Supported gets fixes and is more than 90 days from its EOL date. EOL soon reaches end of life within 90 days. End of life gets no more security fixes.
How Node.js support works
Node.js releases a new major version regularly, and only the long-term support (LTS) lines are meant for production. An LTS line first gets active support with new features backported, then a maintenance phase with critical bug and security fixes only. Non-LTS lines are supported for a few months and are best skipped on servers.
When a Node.js line reaches end of life, it no longer gets security releases, and the OpenSSL and V8 versions bundled with it age quickly. Hosting platforms and Docker base images also drop old lines, so an unplanned EOL often shows up as a broken build.
The table shows every Node.js line with its release date, latest version, end of active support and end of life (end of security support), as published by the Node.js release team.

Node.js EOL questions
Which Node.js versions are still supported?
As of 5 Nov 2026: Node.js 26 (until 30 Apr 2029), Node.js 24 (until 30 Apr 2028), Node.js 22 (until 30 Apr 2027).
When is the next Node.js end of life?
Node.js 22 reaches its end of life on 30 Apr 2027 (in 176 days). After that date it gets no more security fixes.
How do I check which Node.js version I run?
Run node --version. Check every server and container image, not only your laptop: production often runs an older version than development.
Which Node.js version should I use in production?
An LTS line that is in active support, or at least still in maintenance. Avoid lines marked EOL soon if you cannot upgrade in the next few weeks.
What is the difference between active support and maintenance?
Active support means a line still gets backported improvements and regular fixes. In maintenance it only gets critical bug fixes and security patches until its end of life.
